Isobel Jacob

She/Her

Isobel Jacob is a theatre maker who usually considers herself a director... facilitator... educator? She’s from Trowbridge in the South West of England. Growing up with a love of acting and singing, Isobel fell in love with directing and producing theatre at university (where she studied English Lit & Philosophy, but spend most of her time in rehearsals) before undertaking a Theatre Directing MA at East 15 Acting School. Since, as a freelance theatre maker, she has directed and devised with a range of organisations and companies. She loves working on projects which investigate powerful, political, often uncomfortable, themes, with a focus on representation and platforming voices that don’t always get heard. She gets excited about working on plays which interrogate form, blend genres and integrate movement with language.

Her most recent and ongoing project is Welcome to Gaza with the Hands Up Project, a production made out of 19 short plays written by children from Gaza and the occupied West Bank, which toured the UK in 2025 with several of the original writers who wrote the plays when they were in school.

Isobel is an Artistic Director of No Tits Theatre, a queer theatre company producing exciting new writing focused on the LGBTQ+ experience, a company created after the success of its award-winning first production, Fckboy, which Isobel directed.

Isobel is passionate about making theatre with young people and communities, and often facilitates in schools, community centres and youth theatres (including Tramshed, Trowbridge Town Hall, Primary Shakespeare Company, London Youth Theatre). She loves making bold, ambitious ‘participation’ work that challenges audience expectations of what non-professional performers can create, how muchhave to say, and how loudly they will say it!

In her spare time, she likes to talk about politics, her cat, tofu, other people’s love lives and the profound, instructive subtexts within reality tv. She is a proud eldest daughter.
